How do you detangle?!

I've heard so many different versions of the way you are supposed to detangle your hair. Some people soak their hair and saturate it with conditioner and others would never put a comb to soaking wet hair. Some never drag a comb through from root to tip...EVER. While others start at the tip and eventually work their way up to combing from root to tip.

I tend to detangle wet with conditioner. I go from tip to root and them comb through from root to tip once detangled but their is some shedding involved in that process.
